2012 is the Year of the Hybrid Total takeover in the Big Apple. Word is that, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has ordered that every last one of NY's taxis by he hybrid.  This should reduce emissions and make breathing easier in New York City as well as make an important statement.  Mayor Bloomberg noted that the taxis would compromise the "largest, cleanest fleet of taxis anywhere on the planet."   NYC has to date approved nine gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles for use as taxis. Rumor has it that in stone, officials are looking into making the initiative include garbage trucks and buses.  (July 2007)
